About Me

The original Black Sal was a shadowy figure: an 18th Century smuggler of the finest and purest graphite ever to found: that from the famous wad mines of Cumbria in England.

Obsessed with wad (or with the money that could be made for it) Black Sal eventually died for his passion, hunted to death with hounds.

I don't suppose I shall die for my pencils, and I am absolutely certain I will never make any money from them. But perhaps I share a little of his passion.
